CRMA moving towards sustainable development

Sustainable development is a development that meets the requirements of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs (Brundtland Report, 1987). To be sustainable, development must reconciles three major elements : social equity, environmental protection and economic efficiency.
CRMA fits into the sustainable development policy of Air France. Actions focused on sustainable development are implemented, in order to meet the requirements of the group.

CRMA is an ICPE (classified installation for environmental protection) linked to a prefectural authorization.
CRMA is committed to preserve the environment. It is engaged in a logical and economical management of resources and in the process of prevention, reduction and recycling of waste.
The new waste water treatment plant recycles water : it concentrates all pollutants, and clean water is reused in the process. It can handle a greater volume of waste from surface treatment, stripping and non-destructive testing. It also helps by reducing waste, by sending concentrates in an approved center, which has the effect of reducing the environmental impact and risks associated with transportation. The expected benefits are the reduction of water consumption, thanks to the reuse of demineralized water obtained after recycling.
Protecting the environment is also complying with the regulatory requirements, particularly with the environmental code. CRMA is ISO14001. It is a certification centered on management, procedure and formalization of the environment. This is a voluntary standard that shows the willingness of CRMA to enroll in the preservation of the environment.

Sustainable development is also social equity. At CRMA, the corporate social responsibility is first and foremost an opportunity that will allow it to better manage risks, and establish values, ​​such as "respect of the people and the environment." Indeed, specific measures for the employment of older workers, adaptations of working time according to different situations, and multi-skill, are established. Discussions are underway for the development of career paths that allow the development of skills and careers, whilst maintaining employment inside the company.

In the context of the annual report, questions are asked to CRMA by the group’s industrial branch AFI-KLM EM, about consumption of electricity, gas and water and waste. Indeed, CRMA fits into this concrete approach, by implementing different actions on the field.  
According to Virginie Lemasson, environmental manager : "Our approaches have not yet been classified in a Sustainable Development plan defined and formalized. That being so, our actions reveal our state of mind at CRMA, which is moving towards sustainable development. "

CRMA is reorganizing its production scheduling with the implementation of a Flow Process Manager.

Seeking to provide its Customers with high quality services, CRMA has set several objectives in a project to reorganize workflow:

  • Improve incoming workload visibility
  • Reduce waiting times for on-going parts
  • Anticipate incidents
  • Be proactive in dealing with Customers

 For that purpose, the Supply Chain department is implementing targeted actions to optimize the use of resources, tools, teams and communication.

An internal audit has been conducted in May 2012 by the new Flow Process Manager, which enabled to redesign some processes: structuring the production through the automation of scheduling and the optimization of internal relations.

Thus an ERP software – Enterprise Resource Planning – will be displayed and will provide an overall production schedule that will enable to see workload by repair tasks. This will help anticipating delivery dates and therefore improving Customer communication by guaranteeing reliable information.

This reorganization plan is an essential step in CRMA's commitment to continuous improvement.
